I have experienced many amazing results over the past 30 years in my clinic practice where the skin healing properties of the calendula flower have been “miraculous”.    In saying that, my understanding of the actives in the flower extracts from the calendula blossom, support and promote the skin’s natural healing processes bringing unexpected results.

The process of application of the calendula extracts takes 2 steps.  Firstly, any injury where the skin integrity has been weakened by cuts, grazes or other open wounds, it is treated with a very concentrated calendula tincture to get maximum penetration of the actives.  Depending on the extent of the injury, time for the granulation can vary but generally 4-7 days.

The second step is to apply a cream rich in calendula extracts together with the healing and emollient effects of she butter (a nut butter) and carrot seed oil which is rich in vitamin A.  These ingredients protect, soften and support the new healing skin.

One exceptional case of experiencing the healing potential of calendula comes to mind.  One of the massage students in my training school in the late 1980’s!!!! Was due to sit for her examination when she came to see me in a very distressed state. She had had an accident while mowing the family lawn and the top of one of her fingers was severely severed and the only medical option was microsurgery. When she asked if there was “another alternative to healing” I hesitated at first dur to the severity of the injury.  As she was not due for the surgery for several days, I thought this might be a time to prove that nature may be able to help!!

She followed the procedure of applying the calendula tincture many times during the following days and the resultant healing led to the cancellation of the surgery.  I have seen this lady at various times over the years and her finger has made remarkable recovery, including the regrowth of the fingernail.

The above is an extreme case and – yes – it was a step out in faith, but it worked!!  On a lesser scale, skin problems such as acne and the resultant potential for scarring are supported by the Janesce calendula blossom concentrate followed up with the Janesce calendula blossom cream.
