Working from the inside

Serums are about hydration, rebalancing and correction. While you may be taking great care of your skin from the outside, there is a simple way you can improve skin texture by internally increasing your daily intake of essential fatty acids. – EFA’s. Rich in linoleic acid, EFA’s assist the natural flow of sebum, or oil secretions from your oil glands in the skin. This helps to keep the balance of your pH at a healthy 5.6 – 6.5 and it is nature’s way of protecting your skin from dehydration and exposure to the elements. Even if you have concerns about congestion, the EFA’s liquefy the oil secretions and so congestion decreases as the oil flows freely on to the surface of your skin.

The richest source of linoleic acid can be found in cold pressed safflower oil. Add a tablespoon to your favourite salad dressing or mix with a smoothie each morning. Do not heat it – be brave and take it as it is and the results will be worth it. Look for one sold in a dark bottle ( available from health food stores ) to ensure that the oil is protected from the light. After one week, you will notice a marked difference in the softness and texture of your skin.
